DirecTouch Set Up Guide

Step 5 of 6: Setting System Paths for DirecTouch

Server and all Terminals:

  • Log into the DirecTouch program. Use 9137 as a default user.
  • Go to Manager Menu
  • Select Register Setup
  • Select Register Configuration
  • On the System Information tab, type your phone number in the white text box and click Change Phone Number Button.
  • Save your changes.
  • The name and address listed here is where the software is licensed. To change this you must submit a request through Business Machines.

On the Server:

  • Log into the DirecTouch program. Use 9137 as a default user.
  • Go to Manager Menu
  • Select Register Setup
  • Select Register Configuration
  • Click on the Register Name button.
  • This will automatically fill in the name of the computer. The Data, Server, Common, and History path should all be C:\Program Files\DirecTouch
  • Click Save

Remote Register Location on Server

If you have more than one terminal, go to Remote Register Locations. In order for the terminals to update the databases on other terminals, you must define the remote register locations.

  • Click the Find Remote Users button. This will list the other terminals on your network. (If this does not list the other shared drives from the other computers on your network, then you have made a mistake or overlooked one of the steps in the networking section of this document. Go back and check the network settings)
  • You should see the other terminals shared drives( C Drive and DirecTouch Folder)
  • You will need to set a remote location for each remote terminal on the network.
  • Click on the remote user and the DirecTouch folder (ex. \\term1\DirecTouch\)
  • The system will test the path and give you a Test Passed message.
  • Once you receive this message, Save the remote user.
  • You will need to do this on each terminal and you must set all remote users for system synchronization to complete.
  • Here is an example of a 2 terminal system with back office server.
    • Server Remote Locations
      • \\term1\DirecTouch
      • \\Term2\DirecTouch
    • Term1 Remote Locations
      • \\Server\DirecTouch
      • \\Term2\DirecTouch
    • Term2 Remote Locations
      • \\Server\DirecTouch
      • \\term1\DirecTouch

Local Register Setup On Server

  • Log into the DirecTouch program. Use 9137 as a default user.
  • Go to Manager Menu
  • Select Register Setup
  • Select Register Configuration
  • Go to the Local Register Setup tab
  • Click on the Register Name Button. This will automatically fill in the name of the computer.
  • Make sure your number of users is correct. (If number of users is incorrect and will not save, check your remote register locations. The remote users must be set before you can change the number of users here.)
  • Click Find Remote Data. This will bring up your list of shared drives on other computers on your network.
  • The Data Path should be set to the local DirecTouch folder. (ex. C:\Program Files\DirecTouch.)
  • The Server, Common, and History paths should all point to the DirecTouch folder on the server.(ex. \\Server\DirecTouch)
  • Click Save

Setting System Paths

You should still be in Register Configuration.

  • Go to the System Paths tab.
  • Click Find Remote Users
  • On the Server:
    • Path to Time Server
      • Server
    • Path to Key
      • C:\Program Files\DirecTouch
  • If you only have one computer that is your server and terminal, you will not need to set a Back Up Server, Just leave this blank.
  • On all other terminals:
    • Path to Key
      • \\Server\DirecTouch
    • Path to Time Server
      • Server
  • Save and Exit

You system paths are now set.
