DirecTouch Set Up Guide

Step 4 of 6: Loading DirecTouch Software From CD

DO NOT INSERT THE USB KEY UNTIL DIRECTED

Step 1. Copy CD to Server

It is recommended that you put a copy of the CD on the hard drive for future use.

Every DirecTouch system is shipped with a CD/RW drive. This drive is either in the Server or an external drive that can be plugged into any terminal's USB port. These steps assume that you are either at the Server terminal or a terminal with the external CD/RW drive plugged in.

  • Go to My Computer
  • Click on Local Disk C.
  • On the top of the page click File/New/Folder
  • Name the folder DIRECTOUCH DO NOT ERASE
  • Click the Back Arrow button on the browser.
  • Right Click on the CD-Drive and click Explore
  • All the contents of the CD will appear on the right. On the top of the screen click Edit/Select All (they should all turn blue).
  • Click Edit/Copy to folder
  • A small window will appear. Click on Local C-drive and then the DIRECTOUCH folder and then choose Copy on the bottom of the window.
  • You can now close that screen.

Step 2. Software Load

Loading DirecTouch on the Server or Terminal with CD/RW Drive

  • Insert the DirecTouch CD into the CD Drive.
  • Go to My Computer and click on DirecTouch. This will bring up the contents of the CD.
  • Go to the DirecTouch 6.0 install folder.
  • Click on the Setup(blue computer) icon.
  • This will begin the software installation. You will not make any changes to the default settings for the loading of the program. Just follow the onscreen prompts for Next
  • Click Install
  • Click Finish
  • Click Yes to restart the computer.

Loading DirecTouch on terminals that do not have a CD drive

You can load DirecTouch on terminals by using the cd drive on the server.

  • First you will need to go to My Computer on the server PC
  • Right click on the CD drive that has the DirecTouch CD loaded.
  • Go to Sharing. Select Share this folder
  • Go to Permissions and make sure that Everyone has Full Access.
  • Once the Cd drive has been shared on the Server, you will need to go to each terminal one at a time and perform the following:
    • Go to My Network Places
    • Select Computers near me
    • Select Server
    • you should see the CD drive you shared on the server listed here. Once you are able to see the CD drive listed here you will follow the same steps for loading the DirecTouch software as we went through for the server.(It is a good idea while you have the CD shared to copy the contents of the disk onto each terminal. Just create a new folder called DirecTouch CD and copy files from CD Drive on server to this folder on your local PC.)
  • Once DirecTouch has been installed, you will need to share the DirecTouch folder.
    • Go to My Computer
    • Double click on the C Drive
    • Go to Program Files
    • Select DirecTouch
    • You will right click on the DirecTouch folder and go to Sharing and Security.
    • Click Share this Folder
    • Click New Share
    • The share name should default to DirecTouch.
    • Go into Permissions and make sure Everyone has Full Control.

Step 3. License the Software

Once you load the DirecTouch software you will need to license the product.

You should have received a license adaptor with your system. It is a small green plastic adaptor. Locate it now and be ready to plug it in when instructed to do so.

Insert your license file (It was emailed to you) into the DirecTouch directory

  • Via email you should have received your software license file. It is called- V-X Store Name User.Lic
  • Right click on this file and select Copy.
  • Go to My Computer
  • Select C Drive
  • Select Program Files
  • Select DirecTouch
  • There will be a file in the DirecTouch folder named User.Lic. Delete this file.
  • You will now paste the copied file V-6 Store Name User.Lic to the DirecTouch folder.
  • Now you will need to rename the license file. Right click on the file V-6 Store Name User.Lic and select Rename.
  • You will name the file simply User.lic.
  • Once you have completed these steps you will need to make a copy of the new user.lic file and put it on all other terminals DirecTouch folders. You may do this through your network places.

Install the software for the license key

This will be done on the server. The program you will need to run is on the DirecTouch CD.

  • Browse the contents of the CD and you will see a folder named Install Drivers.
  • Open the Key Drivers folder.
  • Double click on the file that says Keylokusb.
  • Click "OK" and then choose UNZIP
  • You will then get 3 pop up boxes for the installation. Say "OK: to all.
  • You will receive a message that dongle setup has been completed. Click "OK."
  • Your key drivers have been loaded.
  • At this point you will insert the USB key into the back of the PC.
  • Windows should pop up a Found new hardware wizard. Run through it. If you get error messages then the program does not detect that the key is attached. Try unplugging and reattaching to the PC. Rerun the application. Restart the PC.

To verify that the software sees the licenseÃf?start your DirecTouch Program.

On the sign in screen, there is a blue button in the top right hand corner. If you have physically attached your license key, installed the dongle drivers, and copied in the license file, your store name will show and it will say licensed.

. If you do not have the dongle attached it will say New_Install and Days Remaining 30. Also you will see "No Software Key Found" on the bottom of the screen. As long as you have the license file, you are able to run the system for 30 days without the physical license dongle. The only limitations are that the cash drawer will not open and the pole display will not work.

Your software is now loaded and you are ready to proceed.
